The Brogue Artist – Cassette Tape Original
The Brogue Artist – Michael Jackson Thriller 1982
Original Spray Paint on Handmade Paper | Framed with Art Glass 70 | 49 × 49cm
Minimal, nostalgic and instantly recognisable, Michael Jackson Thriller 1982 by The Brogue Artist celebrates one of the most iconic moments in music history through a striking piece of contemporary urban art.
The artwork features a classic cassette tape rendered in contrasting white against a deep black background. The monochrome composition gives the familiar object a bold graphic presence, while the intricate cassette detailing and loose ribbon of magnetic tape bring character and movement to the piece.
Look closely and the cassette reveals a wonderful handwritten detail. Across the label are the words "Michael Jackson Thriller 1982", referencing the legendary album that transformed popular music and became one of the most celebrated releases of all time.
Released in 1982, Thriller became a defining moment in music history, producing unforgettable tracks including Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller. The handwritten label recalls an era when music was recorded, collected and treasured on cassette tapes, turning a simple everyday object into a powerful symbol of nostalgia.
Created using original spray paint on handmade paper, the artwork combines the raw aesthetic of street art with the tactile quality of traditional materials. The naturally torn edges of the paper add texture and individuality, contrasting beautifully with the clean graphic imagery.
Presented float-mounted within a contemporary black box frame with Art Glass 70, the artwork showcases the distinctive handmade paper while benefiting from reduced reflections and enhanced clarity.
A distinctive original celebrating Michael Jackson, 1980s music culture and the enduring appeal of analogue nostalgia.

About the Artist | The Brogue Artist
The Brogue Artist is a British contemporary street artist whose work draws inspiration from urban culture, graffiti, nostalgia and the visual world around him.
Growing up surrounded by creativity and a love of visual culture, he studied Art & Design at SCAT in the late 1980s, before completing a BA in Product and Graphic Design at Bristol University.
Following a career spanning more than 30 years in the commercial world, his creative passion was reignited during the lockdown of 2020, marking the beginning of a renewed commitment to producing original artwork.
Today, working as The Brogue Artist, he creates contemporary street-inspired pieces combining bold graphic imagery, expressive textures and cultural references. His background in design brings a strong sense of composition and visual storytelling to his work, while his interest in graffiti and urban environments gives each piece a distinctive street-art character.
His work bridges the gap between graphic design, contemporary art and authentic urban culture, often exploring themes of identity, nostalgia and social observation through layered, visually engaging compositions.
