Sokem – Original Graffiti Artwork

Original Spray Paint Artwork | 1/1 | 80 × 100cm

A striking original artwork by Sokem, an established Bristol graffiti artist whose roots in the city's legendary street art scene stretch back to the late 1980s.

This impressive 80 × 100cm original captures the energy of traditional graffiti lettering, combining sharp angular forms, flowing curves and expressive spray paint techniques with a beautifully balanced contemporary colour palette.

Bold black outlines dominate the composition, creating a dynamic arrangement of interlocking letters and abstract shapes. Soft washes of pastel pink, turquoise blue and muted gold contrast with the strong graphic lettering, while scattered black paint splashes introduce an unmistakable urban edge.

The combination of controlled linework and loose, atmospheric colour gives the artwork a wonderful sense of movement. The softer background contrasts with the precision of the lettering, creating depth without losing the spontaneous character of graffiti.

Sokem's work is deeply connected to the foundations of Bristol's graffiti culture, with a particular passion for traditional lettering and the complex forms associated with wildstyle graffiti.

Rather than simply reproducing street art aesthetics, this original brings the techniques and creative energy of an experienced graffiti writer into a collectible artwork.

A unique, one-off original, this piece is a fantastic opportunity to own work by an artist with genuine roots in Bristol's graffiti movement.

Measuring 80 × 100cm, it is a distinctive statement piece for collectors of original graffiti, contemporary urban art and authentic British street culture.

About the Artist | Sokem

Sokem, also known as Soker, is a Bristol-born graffiti artist and lettering specialist with more than three decades of experience in the city's influential graffiti scene.

He began experimenting with graffiti lettering and tags in 1988, progressing to painting walls around 1992. Growing up in Bristol during the development of its underground graffiti movement, Sokem was influenced by pioneering local artists including 3D of Massive Attack, Inkie, Cheo and Junks.

His work is rooted in traditional graffiti writing, particularly wildstyle, a complex form of lettering characterised by interlocking shapes, movement, intricate connections and dynamic compositions.

Over the years, Sokem has developed a distinctive approach combining technical precision with fluid letterforms, bold colour combinations and an unmistakable understanding of graffiti's visual language.

His artwork has appeared across Bristol, including well-known graffiti locations such as Dean Lane, Stokes Croft and the M32 corridor. He has also worked alongside fellow Bristol graffiti artists, including Cheo, with whom he created a prominent Wallace and Gromit mural in 2017.

In 2018, Sokem was among the artists involved in bringing The Simpsons to Bristol's Upfest street art festival, further demonstrating his versatility beyond traditional lettering.

Remaining closely connected to Bristol's graffiti community, Sokem continues to explore lettering, colour and composition through murals and original artworks.

His work represents an authentic connection to Bristol's graffiti heritage, bringing decades of experience and genuine street culture into contemporary artistic expression.
