The Brogue Artist – "Propaganda" Original
The Brogue Artist – Propaganda
Original Mixed Media Artwork | 64 × 94cm | Framed
Powerful, rebellious and rich in historical references, Propaganda by The Brogue Artist brings together classical imagery and contemporary street culture in a striking original artwork.
Inspired by the iconic image of Napoleon on his rearing horse, the composition reimagines the traditional military portrait through the raw, expressive language of graffiti and urban art. The dramatic black and white horse and rider dominate the canvas, surrounded by layers of spray paint, distressed textures, graffiti tags and vibrant flashes of colour.
The contrast between the historical imagery and the chaotic urban background creates a compelling visual narrative. Symbols of military power and authority are brought into a contemporary setting, inviting questions about conflict, leadership, propaganda and the way history is remembered.
With its rebellious character and underlying anti-war interpretation, Propaganda feels particularly relevant in a world where messages of peace and resistance continue to occupy the streets. Its themes sit naturally alongside the spirit of City Walls Art and the message of NO WAR, celebrating art as a platform for expression and social commentary.
The heavily layered surface, expressive markings and dramatic composition give the piece the appearance of a weathered city wall, while the clean white frame provides a striking gallery presentation.
A distinctive original artwork combining historical symbolism, political commentary and contemporary street art.

About the Artist | The Brogue Artist
The Brogue Artist is a British contemporary street artist whose work draws inspiration from urban culture, graffiti, nostalgia and the visual world around him.
Growing up surrounded by creativity and a love of visual culture, he studied Art & Design at SCAT in the late 1980s, before completing a BA in Product and Graphic Design at Bristol University.
Following a career spanning more than 30 years in the commercial world, his creative passion was reignited during the lockdown of 2020, marking the beginning of a renewed commitment to producing original artwork.
Today, working as The Brogue Artist, he creates contemporary street-inspired pieces combining bold graphic imagery, expressive textures and cultural references. His background in design brings a strong sense of composition and visual storytelling to his work, while his interest in graffiti and urban environments gives each piece a distinctive street-art character.
His work bridges the gap between graphic design, contemporary art and authentic urban culture, often exploring themes of identity, nostalgia and social observation through layered, visually engaging compositions.
